A Ukrainian Senior Design Engineer created an app for design references: how is Diivo different from Pinterest?

AI Design Engineer Dmitry Legkov has released his first public product called Diivo. It is a desktop application for macOS and Windows designed to conveniently organize and search for design references and assets.

According to the IT worker, the idea to create the tool arose from personal pain with the chaos in preserved materials.

“My references were in Figma, folders on my PC, “saved” in Telegram, Pinterest boards… Except they weren’t in my pockets yet! It was simply impossible to find what I needed. So I made myself a tool, used it for a couple of months, improved it “to the point”, and now I’m sharing it with you,” Dmytro said on LinkedIn.

What Diivo can do

Diivo was designed to be the most flexible and intelligent library for creators. Key features of the application include:

  • Chrome extension: allows you to save images or even videos from Dribbble, Behance, and any other site with one click.

  • Semantic search: Understands the textual query for the essence of the image. You can simply type “dark dashboard with green graph” and the system will find the corresponding file.

  • Text search in screenshots: recognizes and finds characters inside saved images.

  • Multi-format: works with images, videos, Lottie, SVG, GIF, PDF, fonts, and even HTML files.

  • Local storage and privacy: Boards in the app are regular folders on the user's drive. Files can be synchronized with the proprietary Google Drive or iCloud. Even if the app is deleted, the entire library will remain intact.

How is Diivo different from Pinterest?

Unlike the popular Pinterest service, Diivo is a personal, offline library. As the developer explains, the app has no ads, intrusive algorithms, or third-party cloud servers. All original files are stored with the user and are available completely offline.

In addition, Diivo supports significantly more professional formats, including Lottie animations and fonts, which is critical for modern product design.

The app offers 30 days of full access — without a card or account creation.
