The author announced the development of the project on the Reddit platform. According to him, the idea arose due to the lack of convenient tools for searching for legal content in Ukraine.
«There were so many opportunities to create some kind of startup, but I didn’t think about money. I thought about what I was missing — a list and recommendations for movies and TV series with information on where you can watch them legally,» the developer noted.
In addition to technical challenges, the launch was accompanied by difficulties with choosing a website address. The author of «Strichka» admitted that the domain he was interested in was bought out just a week before he decided to register. As a result, he had to use a Cyrillic domain, which, according to the developer, added inconvenience to his work.
The project is currently in beta testing. The technical stack of the service includes Node.js and React, and the data for the catalog is integrated from the IMDb database. Part of the code was written using the AI tool Claude. In total, the author spent about 100 hours of pure time on creating the current version.
One of the key features of «Trichka» is the ability to create your own lists of movies and share them with friends. This should be an alternative to chaotic entries in notes or messengers. In addition, the developer plans to implement better recommendations and expand information about the availability of films on local streaming platforms.
The author emphasizes the non-commercial nature of the project. Instead of banner advertising, the site plans to place links to verified funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular, for Russian drones or volunteer initiatives.
