Creativity instead of dry messages: a Ukrainian developer created an application for original invitations to dates (and not only)

From personal need to PET project

As Frontend Developer Rosty explained on Reddit, the idea for the project came from a completely everyday problem. The developer had been thinking for a long time about how to ask a girl out on a date in an unconventional and interesting way, because regular text messages in messengers like "let's go for a walk?" seemed too banal.

One evening, having some free time, he decided to create a tool that would solve this problem once and for all. Initially, the application was developed “for myself and my friends.” Although elements of monetization have already been added to the project, the author perceives it as a useful experience and plans to further improve the functionality for all users.

What the WillYou app can do: from drive selection to interactive features

The app turns a simple invitation into a full-fledged interactive experience. The process of creating and receiving a response is as simple as possible and consists of several steps.

Functionality:

• you can quickly prepare an invitation for a romantic date, birthday, March 8th, or other festive event;

• the author of the invitation independently chooses the vibe, customizes available dates, times, response options and future activities;

• thanks to integration with the KLIPY service, you can add animated GIFs and stickers from thousands of available options to the invitation;

• The created link opens in any browser on any device. The recipient sees an aesthetic step-by-step form where they can choose from the proposed options or leave their comment.

The application also offers interesting game mechanics:

• Drama Mode: a special mode that makes choosing the "No" button a little more difficult and fun for the recipient;
• Double-verify: additional confirmation with the question "Are you sure?" before sending the response.

The creator of the invitation immediately receives a notification as soon as the girl or friend responds, with details of the selected activities.

The WillYou app is available in the App Store .
