On January 2, the Polish Office for Foreigners issued a warning regarding false conscription for military service.
The department has received reports of fake letters received by Ukrainian citizens on behalf of the Warsaw Office for Foreigners.
The messages call on Ukrainian citizens to perform military service. In case of evasion, they threaten legal liability, including arrest and extradition.

“In accordance with current legislation, in particular the law on military service, and in connection with the ongoing mobilization, we inform you that on December 17-31, 2024, we are planning a visit to your place of residence, which is located at… The purpose of the visit is to deliver you to the mobilization point,” the letter dated December 12, 2024, states.
The Department of Foreigners' Affairs informs that this department is not the author of such letters and advises that in case of any doubts, contact the relevant legal or consular services of Ukraine in Poland.
As a reminder, in December 2024, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland stated that the first volunteers for the Ukrainian Legion, which is being formed in Poland, have already left for Ukraine. In early November, over 500 applications from 30 countries around the world, including women, were submitted to the Ukrainian Legion in Poland.
