The main changes in customs clearance of parcels to the USA were shared by Ihor Smilyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta.
The single 10% duty rate is being abolished. Now the duty will be calculated individually, depending on the specific category of goods.
For each shipment, it is now mandatory to indicate the 10-digit UKT FEA product code (TN FEA).
But there is also good news for business - the threshold for the value of parcels for simplified clearance is increasing from $800 to $2,500, which opens up significantly more opportunities for Ukrainian exporters.
"All these changes require serious investments in IT infrastructure. Ukrposhta has attracted one of the best and most modern US customs brokers, Zonos, as a partner. Thanks to integration with them and US customs, everything should "fly" like a supersonic plane," added Smilyansky.
To avoid delays, it is recommended to register all shipments in advance through your Personal Account. During the system development period, only gift parcels to the USA will be accepted directly at branches without prior online registration. The conditions for them remain unchanged: the duty-free limit is up to $100, and one sender can send no more than five such parcels.
