Ukrzaliznytsia will launch verification via BankID for ticket purchases in September

Starting in September, Ukrzaliznytsia passengers will be able to undergo verification not only through the Diia app, but also using BankID. This feature is planned to be activated for selected domestic and international flights.

As Ukrzaliznytsia IT Director Ernest Klymenko reported in a comment to LIGA.net, the new identification system will be launched in the UZ application in September 2025. This is an alternative to «Diya.Signature» for those who do not have «Diya» or who are facing technical difficulties.

BankID from the National Bank allows you to authenticate through any bank connected to the system. Unlike «Diya», this does not require installing a separate application.

«At the final stage of coordinating technical solutions. We are completing the integration, and in parallel, negotiations are underway to reduce the cost of API requests,» Klymenko noted.

The BankID verification function will be applied to three domestic routes: Kyiv — Uzhhorod (No. 29/30), Lviv — Odesa (No. 12), Kyiv — Chop (No. 27/28), as well as to international flights that already require identity verification. There are no plans to scale it to all destinations, but only to those where mandatory verification via «Diya» was previously in effect.

Since the end of July, Ukrzaliznytsia has begun fighting against resellers by introducing mandatory verification for tickets for the five most popular flights through «Diya.Pidpys». The initiative has attracted a lot of criticism, so the list has been limited to three destinations.

The BankID system has long shown its effectiveness: in the first half of 2025 alone, more than 50 million identifications were made through it — more than in the three years of the existence of «Diya.Pidpisu». UZ hopes that such an alternative will make the process of purchasing tickets more convenient and accessible to a larger number of passengers.

We also previously wrote about how Ukrzaliznytsia was unable to pay a court fee of UAH 5,127 due to the consequences of a hacker attack. The company is requesting a delay in payment, citing technical problems.
