“In IT, you can never say that something is 100% secure.” Ferchuk told Europeans how Ukraine is fighting off Russian attacks on digital infrastructure
Minister of Digital Transformation Oksana Ferchuk gave an interview to Euronews, in which she shared with the European audience the details of the Russian terror against Ukraine’s digital infrastructure.
Minister of Digital Transformation Oksana Ferchuk gave an interview to Euronews, in which she shared with the European audience the details of the Russian terror against Ukraine’s digital infrastructure.
“Recently, they attacked two of our telecommunications providers. But as a result, the services are still available because we have backups and we can move the systems to the cloud. We have a special resilience strategy for all state and government IT systems and services. We have backups for everything, and we are currently conducting training, including deliberately shutting down some systems,” she assured .
In addition, Ferchuk added that Ukraine has a decentralized infrastructure, and information in state systems is protected according to its level of importance.
“For each type of information, we have specific rules on how it should be protected, based on international best practices. Is it 100% secure? In IT, you can never say that something is 100% secure. But it is also a battlefield. The enemy attacks us in cyberspace every day. There are thousands of attacks every year, and we are constantly developing our skills and community of experts who know how to protect and monitor these systems 24/7,” the minister said.
She also called on Europe to use Ukraine as a "sandbox" for artificial intelligence.
“This is a place where it (Europe — Ed.) can observe the experiments we are conducting, learn from experience, and then safely implement these lessons in the European environment,” the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs added.
