The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has restored the operation of three key notarial registers after a cyberattack by the Russian Federation, the press service of the department reports .
"After a large-scale cyberattack by the Russians, the Unified Register of Powers of Attorney, the Inheritance Register, and the Unified Register of Special Forms of Notarial Documents became operational," the message said.
From now on, notaries can fully register powers of attorney, wills, and inheritance cases, as well as verify special forms.
All notarial actions that were performed during the absence of access to the registers will be recorded within 5 business days. Enhanced cyber protection measures have been implemented, the ministry added.
Recall that on December 19, Ukraine suffered the largest cyberattack on state registries in recent times. As a result of the attack, carried out by Russian hackers, the work of key systems of the Ministry of Justice was temporarily suspended. The hackers said that they destroyed all the data they had access to, including backup copies on servers in Poland.
The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection does not confirm the information leak after the Russian cyberattack. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the restoration of the Ministry of Justice registers will take, according to preliminary data from experts, from one to two weeks. On December 26, the "Diya" resumed the process of booking employees after the massive Russian cyberattack.
