Testing of the fifth generation mobile network has officially been launched in Odessa. The new city has joined a pilot project to deploy 5G in Ukraine, designed to improve connection quality and relieve the existing infrastructure.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs announced the expansion of the coverage area. Earlier, testing of the technology had already started in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Borodyanka.
According to the data provided, the average connection speed in the Odessa testing zone is 600–700 Mbps, and peak rates exceed 1 Gbps. In addition to increasing speed, 5G takes on a significant portion of the traffic, thanks to which the connection remains stable even in places with a high concentration of users.
Most modern smartphones connect to 5G automatically when coverage is available. If there is no 5G icon, users are advised to check their mobile network settings, update the operating system, turn off power saving modes, and restart the device.
