The new ground-based robotic complex Spider was created as a platform with weapons for destroying equipment, fortifications, and targets at altitude.
According to «Military», the new NRC was shown at a presentation by the National Association of the Defense Industry of Ukraine (NAUDI). The complex is currently undergoing codification, a procedure after which it can be officially admitted to operation in the military.
Spider is built on a tracked chassis of its own design. The vehicle can independently reach a given position, and it can be controlled via several channels at once: LTE communication, radio channel, Starlink or fiber optic. This set allows you to maintain controllability depending on the conditions on the battlefield and available communication.
The platform can be equipped with various types of weapons. Among the declared options are Browning M2 and PKT machine guns, as well as AGS-17 and Mk19 automatic grenade launchers. The fire control system includes hydraulic stabilization, a ballistic calculator and an automatic target tracking function. The weapon elevation angle of up to +70 degrees allows it to work not only on ground objects, but also on targets at altitude.
The current version of the Spider does not yet have combat armor, but the hull has already been fitted with regular steel. This was done to keep the weight and dimensions close to the future armored version. The vehicle is monitored by 360-degree cameras, and smoke mortars are designed to create a curtain to cover not only the complex itself, but also friendly forces nearby.
According to the developers, depending on the mode of use, Spider can operate autonomously for up to 72 hours. Against the background of the growing role of the NRC at the front, such platforms are increasingly being designed not as experimental models, but as tools for specific combat missions — from fire support to work in dangerous areas without the direct participation of the military.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the Ukrainian company NUMO Robotics changed the basic configuration of its NUMO NRC. Starting in April, all new platforms will be supplied with updated tracks, larger batteries, an infrared headlight, and the ability to install mine trawls.
