Counter-Strike 2 has officially released the updated Cache map, located in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Valve developers have made a number of changes affecting the gameplay and visual style of the location, from which they partially removed Soviet symbols and added a monument to the liquidators.
Ukrainian esports commentator Oleksandr «Petr1k» Petrik drew attention to the detailed reproduction of real objects of the exclusion zone. In particular, the map includes a monument to the liquidators near the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl NPP, the Energetik Palace of Culture, the Polissya Hotel, and a famous amusement park.
«There are many signs and texts in Ukrainian and (unfortunately, a Soviet legacy) Russian. There is even a map of the Kyiv region,» added Petrik. He pointed out that the inscription on the plaque of the monument to the liquidators is for some reason in Russian, when in fact the inscription is in Ukrainian, and called on the developers to fix it.

GSC Game World’s narrative designer Vladyslav Pryshchepapraised the work on the authenticity and style of the updated map. According to him, the developers «decommunized» certain elements and brought the entire location to a single art style.
Cache was removed from the active roster back in 2019 and has since disappeared from major competitive tournaments. Many players remember the map for its dynamic mid-map battles and aggressive A-point battles near Forklift.
It is expected that Cache may return to the official competitive map pool as early as the summer of 2026, which will allow it to be used in world-class professional tournaments.
