Ukraine will create a single AI network for combat management and predict the war of operating systems
In the next three to five years, the battlefield confrontation will develop into an "operating systems war," where the side with the more efficient data processing model and faster decision-making will gain the key advantage. To this end, Ukraine plans to unite weapons and analytics systems into a single AI space from the frontline to the command center.
In the next three to five years, the battlefield confrontation will develop into an "operating systems war," where the side with the more efficient data processing model and faster decision-making will gain the key advantage. To this end, Ukraine plans to unite weapons and analytics systems into a single AI space from the frontline to the command center.
This was stated by Danylo Tsvok, head of the Defense AI Center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in an interview with Reuters.
According to the official, the defense department's main goal is to develop and implement a single operating system based on artificial intelligence. It will analyze data along the entire 1,200-kilometer front line and provide commanders with recommendations on combat decisions.
“The system that has more data and understands it better, offers solutions — it will have an advantage over the other,” said Danylo Tsvok. He added that AI should combine various means of destruction and intelligence into “a single living organism capable of acting in a coordinated manner.”
The creation of the Defense AI Center in March was part of a large-scale digitalization of the defense sector. In addition to combat systems, the Ministry of Defense is also developing an AI platform for personnel management and recruiting.
The technological race has also attracted international business. Foreign developers are eager to obtain combat data to train their algorithms. Some giants, such as the American Palantir, are already providing their systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To securely exchange experience with allied countries, Ukraine has launched the Brave1 Dataroom project.
Currently, Ukraine strictly adheres to the principle of mandatory human participation in making final decisions on the battlefield. However, in the future, the speed of autonomous systems may exceed the capabilities of human reaction. Then the military will face a new challenge: how to effectively interact with the decisions that autonomous systems generate almost instantly.
Earlier, Danylo Tsvok stated that Ukraine does not seek to achieve complete autonomy of combat systems. The goal is to create a highly coordinated system that accelerates decision-making, but leaves control to humans.

Як нейромережі бачать вільну та незалежну Україну? Тест dev.ua
