Wikipedia has presented its traditional list of the most popular articles in English for the year.

Top five

45 million views — this is the figure for the most popular English-language Wikipedia article in 2025. It is about American activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot during a debate on a university campus on September 10. The majority of views came after this event, writes The Guardian.

The second most popular article is "Famous Deaths of the Year" — 42.5 million views. This collection appears in the top list every year.

Third on the list was Ed Gein, the American serial killer featured in the third season of the Netflix series Monster. The article about him was viewed 31.2 million times.

The top five were rounded out by Donald Trump (25.1 million) and Pope Leo XIV (22.1 million).

The top 20 then looks like this:

  • 6. Elon Musk, $20.2 million;
  • 7. Zohran Mamdani, Mayor of New York, $20.1 million;
  • 8. Sinners (2025 film), 18.2 million;
  • 9. Ozzy Osbourne — leader of the band Black Sabbath, who died of a heart attack in 2025 — 17.8 million;
  • 10. Superman (2025 film), 17 million;
  • 11. Pope Francis, 15.3 million;
  • 12. The Breakup (TV series), 13.9 million;
  • 13. United States, 13 million;
  • 14. Thunderbirds* (film), 12.9 million;
  • 15. Guns (2025 film), 11.8 million;
  • 16. US Vice President J.D. Vance, $11.6 million;
  • 17. Youth (TV series), 11.6 million;
  • 18. YouTuber MrBeast entered the top 20 for the first time, 11.5 million;
  • 19. Cristiano Ronaldo, 10.8 million;
  • 20. Fantastic Four: First Steps, 10.8 million.

Articles related to film and television remain a staple of the top 20 list, in part due to the "second screen" effect — when people turn to their mobile phones while watching.
