In 2025, the number of IT entrants decreased by 7%. Only 5 specialties show an increase in first-year students
Compared to 2024, the number of applicants decreased the most for the Computer Science specialty, but despite this, it remains the most popular among IT students.

In 2025, 136,600 applications were submitted for admission to IT specialties — 10% more than last year, DOU reports .
The following majors were most popular:
"Computer Science" - 36,437 applications, of which 17,983 were for the budget;
"Software Engineering" — 26,733 (13,033 for the budget);
"Cybersecurity" — 23,198 (10,222).
In 2025, the number of applications for admission to such specialties as "Aviation and Rocket and Space Engineering" (+37%), "Automation, Computer-Integrated Technologies and Robotics" (+8%) increased. The probable reason is the increase in the volume of government orders.
23,300 first-year students are enrolled in IT majors, which is 7% less than last year. Of these, 12,400 are on the budget, the rest are contract students.

The number of enrolled students increased in the following specialties:
"Aviation and rocket and space technology" (+36%);
"Systems Analysis and Data Science" (+15%);
"Automation and Robotics" (+5%);
"Cybersecurity" (+4%);
"Statistics" (+3%).

In other IT specialties, the number of enrolled students decreased compared to 2024. The largest decrease was in the specialty "Computer Science": 5,711 students compared to 6,711 last year. The reduction was primarily due to a decrease in the number of contract students in this specialty.
