Ukrainian gunsmiths produced 4.5 million drones last year — three times more than in 2024
Executive Director of the Ukrainian Council of Gunsmiths Ihor Fedirko said that in 2025, manufacturers prioritized long-range drones. This trend will continue this year, but the requirements for UAVs will become stricter.
Executive Director of the Ukrainian Council of Gunsmiths Ihor Fedirko said that in 2025, manufacturers prioritized long-range drones. This trend will continue this year, but the requirements for UAVs will become stricter.
"Long-range has become the priority of the year, and drones of various types are the basis of the defense industry. The Ministry of Defense has set a course for contracting 4.5 million FPVs in 2025 and directing over UAH 110 billion to purchase drones — three times more than last year," the director said.
According to him, in 2025, the need for long-range drones has increased sharply, and deep strike and mid-strike solutions have "become systemic." Igor Fedirko noted that the production of anti-drone equipment has also increased: interceptors, electronic warfare, sensors, and communications.
"Anything that increases the effectiveness of covering objects and reduces the consumption of expensive air defense missiles," he noted.
Fedirko reported that in 2026, these trends will continue, and the requirements for drones will become "stricter and more technological."
