The fintech company W Group, owned by Ukrainian businessman and owner of WhiteBIT Volodymyr Nosov, financed the seed round of the American startup SignSplit for $400 million. As a result of the deal, the investor received 40% of the company’s capital and a seat on the board of directors, while operational management remained with the founders of the startup.
The details of the deal were discussed by the founder and president of W Group, Volodymyr Nosov, in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.
The funds raised will be used to expand the team, recruit engineers, strengthen security, regulatory compliance, and prepare the platform for global market entry. The funding will be disbursed in stages based on the results achieved.
“The schedule of tranches and conditions are a commercial secret, but the logic is transparent: each subsequent stage is supported by the real results of the team,” said Volodymyr Nosov.
W Group emphasizes that they focused not on the startup’s public recognition or previous investments, but on its future potential and platform value.
"Of course, any investment involves risks, especially in the early stages. But big business is not always built on existing opportunities, it often begins with faith in an idea and potential. SignSplit is an autonomous technology company, our task is to strengthen it with ecosystem resources and help build a global business," emphasized the founder of W Group.
SignSplit is developing a platform for the economy of so-called “signed data.” The service allows users and organizations to protect their personal information, creative works, and digital representations of their appearance.
