WhatsApp previously used a six-digit PIN for two-step verification. Now, instead of a simple PIN, you can set a longer password with letters, numbers, and special characters that is harder to guess. WhatsApp also allows you to associate multiple access keys with a single account.
And for Android users, the messenger will show whether the number is from another country. And also whether the user has common groups with the caller. The company explains that scammers often try to create a sense of urgency and force a person to respond or act immediately.
“Scammers are counting on you to act in a hurry — now you can wait a bit and learn more before responding,” WhatsApp explains.
