British autonomous cargo drone manufacturer Windracers has established a support center for its ULTRA logistics UAVs in Ukraine. The company plans to further expand its presence in the country.
As reported by «Militarnyi», Windracers has been supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine for over three years and providing assistance to frontline units using its system of logistical drones.
«We are here for the long term and are open to collaborating with different companies to achieve the best results,» the company noted.
Windracers noted that they are collaborating with Ukrainian technology companies on the integration of individual components and technical maintenance of the unmanned aircraft.
ULTRA is an aircraft-type UAV with a fixed wing and a wingspan of 10 m. The logistics drone is equipped with a cargo compartment with a volume of 700 liters and two four-stroke Briggs & Stratton engines with a volume of 627 cc. cm.
It is made of aluminum rather than composite materials because aluminum is more resistant to damage, efficient to manufacture, and inexpensive. Its components are designed for field repair with a minimum number of parts.
The ULTRA can carry a 100kg payload up to 1000 km. They take off and land like aircraft and have a drop mechanism for delivering humanitarian aid. Windracers says there is an option to upgrade the ULTRA to increase its range to 2000 km while significantly increasing its payload.
ULTRA operates without a pilot, using its own Masterless aviation system, which has an automatic takeoff and landing function.
