According to Reuters, the man himself, named Terry Garwood, was arrested earlier.
xAI’s lawsuit was filed in federal court in Texas on Tuesday and alleges that Terry Garwood violated the company’s terms of service.
The publication emphasizes that this case is one of the first brought by an AI company against one of its users for allegedly using an artificial intelligence system to create explicit materials.
xAI alleges that Garwood uploaded regular images of adults and minors to Grok and attempted to use the system to create sexually explicit deepfakes. The complaint also alleged that he created sexual images of people without their consent.
Among the company’s demands, which it set out in the lawsuit, are monetary compensation and a lifetime ban on this user from using Grok.
«Defendant’s actions were an elaborate scheme to use Plaintiff’s tool for criminal purposes, exposing Plaintiff to significant legal risks and reputational harm,» xAI’s lawsuit states.
Recall that the company’s lawsuit against the user was filed after long-standing mass accusations against xAI itself after Grok enabled its users to create sexualized deepfakes.
