User X (Twitter) named Brandon Jones said he was hit by a truck while returning from a local GameStop store. According to him, the newly purchased Xbox Series S console in his backpack helped him survive the accident.
«This console saved my life guys», — Brandon wrote on social media. His post garnered nearly 1 million views and over 20,000 likes, and caught the attention of Xbox itself.
He said that when he was hit by the truck, he initially managed to hold on to its steel bumper, but was eventually pulled under it.
«I fell to the ground, but the driver kept going, so I assumed he didn’t notice me. The Xbox in my backpack saved me from headbutting or worse, death. I didn’t want to get crushed under the truck, so I used my left leg to try to slow the truck down. At that moment, my bike clamped my right leg and I couldn’t move it», — the victim claims.
According to him, he remembered the moment when his backpack hung only on his left shoulder, and then he crashed into the curb with it. Brandon says he felt «all the weight of the front of the truck hit my ribs» and roll back.

«The truck hit me and dragged me 12 feet [3.6 meters] and I was soon taken to the hospital with a single broken left leg and a few kisses from the asphalt,» the gamer reported.
To his surprise, the Xbox turned on «without any hesitation» and ran games surprisingly well considering what it had been through. Brandon believes that if the console was not in his backpack at the time, the incident could have ended much more tragically.
«We are so glad you are safe and hope your recovery is going well. You mentioned your Xbox is still working, but we’d be happy to send you a new one if you’d like!» Microsoft’s gaming division responded to Brandon’s story.
Some users were skeptical of the gamer’s words and accused him of lying. In response, he posted a photo from the hospital and a message about the incident on a Southern Utah Facebook group.
