YASNO has transformed solar stations, batteries and generators into a single IT system. How the solution works, helping businesses manage electricity generation, storage and consumption
YASNO implements projects for businesses with solar power plants, energy storage, and backup generation. But after the equipment is launched, another task arises: to transform a set of energy assets into a single system that helps the enterprise reduce costs and effectively manage electricity consumption.
The answer was EMS YASNO Power — a proprietary energy management system (Energy Management System), which helps businesses manage electricity generation, storage, and consumption as a single system.
We tell you how an energy company became a developer of its own software product, why it abandoned ready-made solutions, and what challenges it faced when creating the platform.

What is EMS YASNO Power?
EMS (Energy Management System) is a software platform that combines solar power plants, energy storage devices, generators, and other energy equipment of an enterprise into a single system.
The system collects telemetry from all devices, analyzes data on electricity consumption and generation, takes into account market signals, and automatically makes decisions regarding equipment operation.
For example, EMS can determine when it is more profitable to charge or discharge batteries, how to distribute the load between different energy sources, and how to minimize the enterprise’s electricity costs without operator intervention.
When monitoring is not enough
Work on the platform began with the practical needs of customers.
Initially, the team created a telemetry system that allowed remote monitoring of equipment performance. However, as the market developed, it was no longer enough for customers to simply see real-time metrics.
Calculations, battery charging and discharging schedules, generation management, and tracking electricity market prices have often remained manual tasks. While this is still possible for a single facility, this approach begins to lose its effectiveness for dozens of assets or complex energy farms.
The true value of energy equipment today is created not only at the hardware level, but also at the software level that manages this entire infrastructure.
"We started with telemetry. Then the issues of electricity arbitrage, battery management, and complex equipment operation scenarios emerged. The market no longer needed a monitoring system, but a management system," says Bohdan Yatsyura, head of the product team.
Why ready-made EMS solutions did not work
Before starting development, the team analyzed existing products on the market.
However, ready-made solutions had several significant limitations. Some platforms were aimed at large international corporations and required significant investments in implementation. Others required complex customization or did not take into account the specifics of the Ukrainian energy market.
Therefore, the team decided to create its own solution that can be flexibly adapted to customer needs and local market characteristics.
The hardest part started after writing the code
At first glance, it may seem that the main challenge of EMS lies in the algorithms. However, a significant part of the team’s time is spent integrating equipment from different manufacturers.
Each vendor has its own integration features, telemetry delivery approaches, management features, and varying levels of documentation quality. For the team, this means a separate cycle of analysis, testing, and adaptation.
"Each new vendor is a separate challenge for us. Much depends on the quality of the documentation. In some cases, integration is quick, in others we have to experiment and check the operation of the equipment practically manually," says Bohdan.
Over time, EMS YASNO Power has developed its own integration base, which is constantly expanding. This allows for faster connection of new equipment and shortens the time to implement solutions for customers.
What’s going on under the hood
EMS YASNO Power operates as a real-time system. The platform continuously collects telemetry from inverters, energy storage, meters and other equipment, analyzes generation, load and consumption parameters and, based on this data, generates commands for managing energy assets.
The solution architecture is built on the microservices principle. This allows you to individually scale platform components, expand functionality, and more quickly integrate new equipment from different manufacturers.
From a technical point of view, the product combines Industrial IoT approaches, telemetry collection systems, and real-time decision-making algorithms.
How it works in practice: the case of Ukragrokom
One of the projects using EMS YASNO Power was the Ukragrocom enterprise.
The company was faced with the task of increasing energy independence and using its own energy resources more efficiently.
To this end, an energy storage system with a capacity of 648 kW and a capacity of 1290 kWh was implemented at the facility, and control of all processes was transferred to the EMS platform.
The system automatically analyzes the equipment’s operating modes and determines optimal scenarios for its use depending on the load, battery charge level, and other parameters.
As a result, the company received a centralized energy asset management system and the ability to use energy infrastructure more efficiently.
What’s next?
The development of EMS YASNO Power is ongoing. The team’s roadmap already includes management of energy asset groups, deeper integration with cogeneration units, new analytics tools, expanded equipment monitoring scenarios, and manual control functions for customers who want to independently influence the operation of the system.
Today, EMS YASNO Power helps businesses automate the management of energy storage and their own generation, take into account changes in electricity market prices, and coordinate the operation of multiple energy assets within a single facility.
