The day before, it was reported that the video platform’s traffic in Russia had dropped to 20% of what it was before the so-called «slowdown.» This was reported by Meduza, citing Mikhail Klimarev, the author of the Russian Telegram channel ZaTelekom, an IT expert and executive director of the Internet Protection Society.
He analyzed traffic data from Google’s monitoring service. Based on this, he created a graph of YouTube slowdowns, which shows that access to the video hosting service has been significantly limited in recent days.

According to «Nastoyaschego Vremya», 80% of the Russian population cannot access the platform.
«Google and YouTube are among the few remaining platforms offering access to free, independent information in Russia. We are aware of reports that some people are unable to access YouTube in Russia. This is not the result of any technical issues or actions on our part,» Google said in a statement.
