YouTube has begun testing an experimental feature that allows you to indicate collaborators in videos, similar to how it is implemented on Instagram and TikTok, a Google employee announced this on the YouTube help page.
The innovation allows authors to mutually promote each other: the collaborative video will be shown to the subscribers of both participants, and the names of the co-authors will be displayed next to the main author on the video page. In the mobile version, if there are many participants, their list will be hidden under the inscription «…and more». Clicking on it will open the full list with the «Subscribe» button opposite each profile.
Influencer marketer Lindsay Gamble posted a screenshot of the feature on Threads, which appears to be implemented almost identically to Instagram: one author sends an invitation to collaborate, and another confirms. This mechanism is intended to protect against arbitrary additions by third parties.
The tool is currently only available to a limited number of users, but YouTube hints at a wider rollout in the future, depending on feedback from testers. It’s unclear whether contributors will be able to see data only available to the uploader, such as analytics or monetization.
Collaborations have been successfully implemented on Instagram (since 2021) and TikTok, allowing creators to increase reach through cross-audience. Introducing a similar solution on YouTube could be a solution for short-form content, where quick interaction and visibility are important.
Recall, we also wrote about how in the second quarter of 2025, Google removed almost 11,000 YouTube channels and other accounts that spread propaganda for China, Russia, and other countries.
