People’s deputy from the «European Solidarity» party, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Nina Yuzhanina, criticized the «eBook» initiative, adopted yesterday at the government meeting.
«Well, it turned out beautifully, beautifully, „let’s do them together“… There are almost a thousand adults before spending the budget. Oh, my heart feels that the next step will be „eSmartphone“ — a program for those who are 60+, which Zelensky announced back in February 2022, but which has not yet been implemented. Now you also have this feeling: after the increase in taxes, the money that will be taken from people and businesses every month (this is once), should be enough for all populist ideas (this is two)?», asked the People’s Deputy.
We will remind you that at the meeting on December 5, 2024, the Government adopted a resolution on the launch of «eBook» in the «Diya» application. In December, 18-year-old Ukrainians will receive financial assistance in the amount of 908 hryvnias, which can be spent on the purchase of books in the Ukrainian language — in paper, electronic or audio format. Within 3 months after the funds are credited, they must be used in bookstores that have joined the program. The service is available to citizens of Ukraine who have reached their 18th birthday since 2024. The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
