The draft law on the cryptocurrency market will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada in its first reading this month.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danyla Hetmantseva on the air of News.LIVE.
"We have already recommended to the committees and we have agreement with the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada that it will be included in the agenda," said Hetmantsev.
He also explained that the purpose of the bill is to provide legal protection to the crypto market, namely to both cryptocurrency owners and crypto exchanges.
"We need to enable people to legally receive income from crypto transactions and pay taxes on it. We need to do it the way securities taxes are paid now, which is at the regular tax rate."
This concerns 5% personal income tax and 5% military levy.
"If a person does not want to bring crypto out of the shadows, if he wants to own it illegally in the future, we will not do anything with this person, we will be frank. But if you plan for 10 years, then you should understand that crypto is such a thing that once a connection is established between you and your crypto wallet, all previous operations immediately become known. Yes. And they cannot be hidden, and they cannot be destroyed. And all the tax consequences of such operations also become known. And they are qualified accordingly. Therefore, if you plan to hide somewhere all your life, well, that is your right," said Getmantsev.
He also added that this is a very complex bill that was considered in the committee even before its registration: consultations were held not only with state authorities, but also with representatives of the crypto market and experts from the International Monetary Fund.
