The contraband was discovered in a Mercedes-Benz minibus at the Krakivets-Korchova checkpoint today, January 26, the State Customs Service reports .
In the declaration, the driver indicated 100 kg of used clothing and three EcoFlow charging stations.
But during the inspection, customs officers discovered 26 undeclared gadgets in the cabin, which were among the man's personal belongings.
These were the IPhone 17 Pro Max and IPhone 17 Pro worth about UAH 2 million.
A report was drawn up on this fact in accordance with Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, which provides for a fine of 30% of the value of these goods.
Let us remind you that over 70% of all electronic contraband in Ukraine is iPhones. Only every fifth iPhone is imported officially with payment of duties and taxes, in absolute figures this is 200,000–250,000 units per year. The rest of the devices enter Ukraine through unofficial channels.
Previously, dev.ua reported on a customs officer who was taking $100 for each smuggled iPhone. He was detained by the State Bureau of Investigation.
Also in January , a bus was stopped with 829 Apple devices worth UAH 35.5 million hidden under the floor. According to Danylo Getmantsev, the head of the Verkhovna Rada’s Finance Committee, this was smuggled goods for the Yabko chain, but the company itself denies this.
