PlantIn, a multi-product IT company that develops hobby applications, has launched two new products at once: RockIn for rock recognition and SportDex for sports card identification and collection. The company’s portfolio now includes four applications.
According to PlantIn co-CEO Mykhailo Hrynets, the company noticed a growing interest in collecting and decided to address this need, based on feedback and requests from users of the main applications; the focus of the new products is on the North American markets. In the first month after launch, RockIn identified over 50,000 photos of rocks, and SportDex identified over 100,000 sports cards.
Both new products are built on the same ML technology as the flagship PlantIn (plant care) and CoinIn (coin collecting and valuation).
RockIn recognizes types of stones from photos — the model identifies over 800 types of precious stones and minerals. The application’s functions include database search, collection organization, thematic guides, a marketplace for buying and selling stones between users, and Metal Detector — a function for checking the presence of metal in minerals. The application is free in Ukraine.
SportDex identifies sports cards by photo, with a database of over 13 million cards. The functionality includes database search, player information, collection creation, marketplace for selling cards, thematic guides, viewing alternative player cards, and Live Mode — a feed of the latest identified cards and sales along with sports trends and results of the week. Viewing entire card sets and pages with athletes' achievements is also available. The application is free in Ukraine — after creating an account, premium access is automatically opened without additional connections.
Both applications are available in the App Store and Google Play, and also have a web version with limited functionality — both sites support photo identification, and on the SportDex website you can additionally view cards for sale.
