Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the restrictions on mobile internet and the Telegram messenger in Russia. He stated that Ukrainian cyber experts are working on hacking the Russian state messenger Max.
Zelensky said this during an online briefing with journalists on March 20, Ukrainska Pravda reports. In his opinion, after the ban on Telegram in the Russian Federation, it will be more difficult for Ukrainian specialists to influence Russians. However, he noted that they are already working on gaining access to the Max messenger, which is controlled by the Russian authorities.
Zelensky noted that with the ban on the Telegram messenger, it will become more difficult for Ukrainian cyber experts to influence the mood of Russians, but assured that work is underway on access to the new Max messenger controlled by the Russian authorities.
«Now, with the restriction of Telegram in Russia, it will definitely be more difficult to transmit signals to their society, but nevertheless, I had a report on their new network — Max, we will also get to Max,» the president said.
According to him, the restriction of social networks and mobile Internet in Russia is carried out for the sake of total control, which is established by the ruler of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
«But this is, you know, a step back, and a step back 100 years. In principle, they can soon switch to paper mail, telegraph and horses. That’s what civilization is like. Maybe, in principle, Putin likes it, maybe this is how he feels young again,» said Volodymyr Zelensky.
Later, Russians began to complain en masse that the Telegram app would not open, photos and videos would not load, and messages would not be sent. The largest number of complaints came from Moscow and St. Petersburg.
