The national postal operator Ukrposhta has completed the automation of its sorting facilities and will now process 100% of its mail on robotic lines, which will allow it to process up to 2 million shipments per day. This should provide a «technological breakthrough in the speed of processing and delivering shipments,» the press release notes. The new sorting lines will increase the speed and accuracy of sorting by 8 times, and receiving parcels between large cities and regional centers of Ukraine will be possible the next day after shipment.
It is noted that thanks to the modernization, Ukrposhta can process up to two million parcels per day, and the processing speed reaches five shipments per second.
«2025 is the year of completion of the largest reforms of Ukrposhta, and sorting automation is one of the key ones. Today we opened a new modern logistics center in Zaporizhzhia, thereby completing the automation of our sorting facilities. From now on, parcels across the country will arrive faster, and the risk of loss or error will be minimal,» said Ihor Smilyansky, General Director of Ukrposhta.
Investments in modernization amounted to one billion hryvnias of own funds. All sorting centers are equipped with the latest equipment and software of Ukrainian production by UIS.
Along with the launch of automated lines, Ukrposhta has introduced a new logistics model. Optimization of routes between terminals, logistics centers, and depots allows for reduced delivery times: first between regional centers and large cities — the very next day, and later — to all corners of Ukraine.
Currently, fully automated lines operate in seven key hubs: Kyiv-Pravy, Kyiv-Livy, Odesa, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv and Dnipro, as well as in 17 logistics centers across Ukraine, where semi-automated lines are used.
«All sorting centers are equipped with powerful industrial generators, which guarantees uninterrupted operation even in the absence of power supply,» the press release notes. In 2025, Ukrposhta plans to complete the automation of sorting letters, newspapers, and picking orders for medicines, as well as open another processing center for international shipments.
Recall that in early January, Ukrposhta announced a strategic partnership with the global Chinese marketplace Temu. Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilyansky noted that this could provoke «quite a bit of a backlash in the spirit of ‘you’re making life difficult for local players’,» but it will definitely «improve the conditions of Ukrainian consumers.»
Smilyansky previously reported that the company is «conducting active negotiations» with the USPS, the US Postal Service. This agreement will allow Ukrainians to buy goods on Amazon with delivery from Ukrposhta.
