5 tips on how to use ChatGPT from the top manager of OpenAI
OpenAI Product Manager Nick Turley shared 5 life hacks for ChatGPT users, from using voice mode to simply communicate with a chatbot to creating your own personal GPT that can act as a creative writing coach, develop marketing strategies, or turn photos into illustrations.
OpenAI Product Manager Nick Turley shared 5 life hacks for ChatGPT users, from using voice mode to simply communicate with a chatbot to creating your own personal GPT that can act as a creative writing coach, develop marketing strategies, or turn photos into illustrations.
Turley says that users who have not yet explored the additional features in the latest model of the chatbot, GPT-4o, may find some useful new tools for themselves, writes Business Insider.
Experiment with voice mode
If you don't want to type, you can try to talk. The ChatGPT voice feature consists of nine voices that can be changed in the website settings.
Users can talk to the chatbot by voice, and some even say they've been able to have "emotional, personal" conversations. However, others caution against using AI as a therapist.
All logged-in users can access the standard voice feature, while the enhanced voice mode, which offers natural, real-time conversations, is currently only available to Plus and Team users.
Ask ChatGPT to remember things
If you don't like repeating yourself, you can configure ChatGPT to remember certain things that the AI will use to improve its responses.
"You don't have to wait for him to make up his mind about you," Turley says. "You can just tell him anything you want him to remember."
He added that memories can include work, family affairs, hobbies, favorite foods, and more.
Users can simply tell ChatGPT to remember something, but they can also turn off the chatbot's memory at any time or even ask it to forget something. Turley said the extra effort is "worth it" because the chatbot's memory "will continue to improve."
Create your own GPT
Users can also create their own custom GPT—no coding required.
GPT can be tailored to focus on specific tasks, from language learning to data analysis, based on the user's instructions for the GPT Builder. You can customize your own GPT options, such as advanced data analysis or adding DALL-E image generation.
For example, one user shared in X his custom GPT that turns photos of people into Pixar characters.
While it's possible to share a link to your customized GPTs, which can be public and searchable, Turley assured that users can keep their GPTs private.
Upload files
According to Turley, this lesser-known chatbot feature is "pretty phenomenal." Available for Plus and Enterprise users. Allows you to upload and save any text files, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations to your account.
ChatGPT can then analyze the text, provide a summary or feedback, retrieve specific information or quotes, and compare and contrast the two documents.
Turley said the feature can be particularly useful if "you have a very long article to read" or "a textbook you're trying to work through."
Image integration
Although working with texts is more popular among users, ChatGPT can also understand and interpret images.
DALL-E's image generator is also available in ChatGPT and can generate images from conversations. You can use these two options for different tasks, such as creating a birthday card and writing a greeting poem.
A Reddit user complained that his girlfriend uses ChatGPT whenever the couple has a disagreement. The AI itself does not consider its prompts to be correct
"Pahan is conceptually a Scrum Master. ChatGPT was asked by an IT marketer to write a Scrum training plan in the style of Soviet and prison jargon: rate this masterpiece
