Ukrainian IT professionals are increasingly thinking about changing their profession or finding alternative sources of income. «The IT market is bad right now, to put it mildly,» wrote Threads user kulykann. She asked IT professionals who had already changed careers or were considering it. The discussion quickly turned into a kind of survey about the backup plans of Ukrainian IT professionals. Among the answers were the defense industry, data analytics, farming, customs, and even repair work.

A team of Ukrainian IT professionals led by CEO & Founder Dmytro Tkachuk launched Jobico.io — a platform for searching for candidates and vacancies in the IT sector.

Ukrainian defense tech has been one of the hottest areas for hiring engineers for several years. Companies are looking for developers, testers, embedded specialists, AI, computer vision, and other specialists. At the same time, not all IT professionals are ready to change outsourcing, a product company, or a startup to work on defense technologies. Some candidates fear security risks, mobilization, or industry instability. If then experienced specialists could receive several offers at the same time and change employers almost without risks, today the market has become much more cautious.
