Mobile operator Kyivstar is expanding testing of fifth-generation communications. The other day, the 5G network was tested in the area of the Kiev railway station.
This was reported by the technical community of the Ukrainian telecommunications market MZU. According to experts, for the network operation in this sector, the operator uses equipment from the Swedish vendor Ericsson in the 5G NSA (Non-Standalone) standard in the n78 band.
We would like to remind you that as of May 2026, an active phase of the pilot implementation of 5G is underway in Ukraine. At the end of April, it became known that almost 500,000 Kyivstar subscribers have already used the fifth generation connection in test mode.

Currently, the main pilot zones are concentrated in three cities, where the average Internet speed under load reaches 600–800 Mbps. The technology demonstrates the highest efficiency in Lviv and Kharkiv, where 5G accounts for about 40% of all mobile traffic.
