In an interview with Forbes Ukraine, Prybytko recalled that 5G for Ukrainian subscribers was supposed to be launched in 2022, but these plans were affected by the Russian full-scale invasion.
According to him, more than 9.4 million (22%) phones in Ukraine support 5G technology. Stanislav Prybytko believes that the positive effects of implementing the technology will be immediately noticed by business and this will contribute to the automation of processes and the emergence of new services.
The Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation noted that the full deployment of 5G in Ukraine will begin after the end of martial law.
«5G coverage will not replace the restoration of damaged networks, the expansion of coverage to roads, railways and remote settlements. Now it is worth talking about quality, not the number of locations with 5G. In the optimal scenario, by 2030 we can cover quite a lot of the country’s territory with this technology,» said Prybytko.
Recall that at the end of the summer , two more Ukrainian cities — Kharkiv and Borodyanka — joined the 5G testing. The Ministry of Digital Transformation noted that they want to test how the technology works in cities suffering from Russian shelling.
«This is also a signal that when, you know, Putin is hitting Kharkiv with missiles and drones, and we launch 5G there, then it will be such a fuck for him! That, like, we will still move forward,» said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov during a live video broadcast on TikTok.
