Mobile operator lifecell has expanded technological capabilities for owners of Apple smartphones. After updating the operating system to iOS 27, iPhone users on the lifecell network received support for Dual Stack IPv4/IPv6 technology, as well as the ultra-clear EVS voice codec when making VoLTE calls.
Mobile operator lifecell has expanded technological capabilities for owners of Apple smartphones. After updating the operating system to iOS 27, iPhone users on the lifecell network received support for Dual Stack IPv4/IPv6 technology, as well as the ultra-clear EVS voice codec when making VoLTE calls.
This will provide subscribers with more stable mobile Internet, faster content downloads, and improved voice quality during 4G calls.
Lifecell introduced Dual Stack technology for mobile Internet back in January 2025, but it was the release of iOS 27 that made it available to iPhone owners on the operator's network.
Thanks to Dual Stack, the smartphone can simultaneously work with two network protocols — IPv4 and IPv6 — and automatically choose the most optimal route for each specific Internet resource.
Key advantages of the technology:
seamless work with both legacy IPv4 resources and modern IPv6 services;
traffic is routed along the fastest path;
IPv6 routes are often shorter, which reduces latency (ping);
full compatibility with the latest cloud platforms and services.
The second important update concerns voice communication over 4G (VoLTE). In April 2025, lifecell launched the modern EVS (Enhanced Voice Services) codec on its network, and now its support is available for iOS 27 users.
EVS transmits sound over a much wider frequency range, making the other person heard more clearly and naturally. In addition, the codec supports a flexible range of bitrates and maintains high voice quality even in unstable signal conditions or poor coverage.
According to lifecell, the VoLTE service is in high demand among subscribers. Over 15 million VoLTE calls are made on the network every day. In total, 5.1 million VoLTE-enabled devices are registered on the network (over 70% of all subscribers' smartphones).
For users, the changes happen automatically and don't require complicated manual settings. Simply update your iPhone to iOS 27.
How to update your device: Go to Settings → General → Software Update. The update is available for all compatible Apple models starting with iPhone 11.
