Kyiv Aviation Institute is recruiting for the ActInSpace space hackathon. Who can participate?

ActInSpace is an international 24-hour hackathon where teams work on real-world cases, using space technologies, data, patents, and infrastructure for projects with great social or commercial potential.

«The goal of the competition is to inspire participants to create startups and solutions that change our lives on Earth,» the hackathon description says.

Within 24 hours, teams must create a solution to a challenge chosen from the following categories:

• Space4.0 — becoming a new player in the space industry.
• Business in Everyday Life — create a business idea based on space technologies.
• Humanitarian — find solutions to humanitarian problems.
• Fly to the Moon and Beyond — large-scale innovations of the future.

In this process, teams gain access to CNES/ESA technologies and data, work with mentoring groups, and present their ideas to an international jury.

Who can participate and how to apply?

Teams of two to five people can participate in the competition, including:

• adults (18+ years old) who operate or reside in the country where one of the organizing organizations is located (entrepreneurs, students, researchers, developers, users, designers and experts in the field of space, job seekers, etc.);
• and/or legal entities under private law (associations, companies), represented by a person authorized to participate in this competition, without restrictions on citizenship.

During the ActInSpace hackathon, experts from the space industry and the business world will be present to advise and accompany participants.

Local (regional) organizers in Ukraine in 2026: Kyiv Aviation Institute and Maker Hub NGO.

The winning team of Ukrainian ActInSpace 2026 will travel to the international final in Bordeaux (France) in April and compete for the main prize — a flight in zero gravity.

Participants from local Ukrainian partners:

• 2 grants of 2,500 euros each for teams that will be selected separately from the general competition;
• Electronics kits and vouchers for 2 winners from MySat Kit.

Participation is free.

Participants can register as ready-made teams or individually, and create a new team with the help of the organizers.

Stages of the competition in 2026:

• January 30-31 in the form of an international hackathon in offline + online format.
• On April 1-2 in Bordeaux (France), the winners of the local stages will compete for a place in the international semi-finals and finals.

Location for the offline part: Kyiv, details will be provided to hackathon participants later.
