OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced the launch of AgentKit, a tool for creating and deploying AI agents, at the Dev Day event.
“AgentKit is a complete set of building blocks on the OpenAI platform, designed to help you take your agents from beta to production. It’s everything you need to create, deploy, and optimize agent workflows without any hassle,” said Altman.
AgentKit includes several key features. The first is Agent Builder , which Altman compared to Canva for agent development, TechCrunch writes .
“It’s a visual and fast way to plan logic, steps, and ideas,” Altman said. “It’s built on the responses API, which is already used by hundreds of thousands of developers.”
The second feature of AgentKit is ChatKit , which provides a ready-made chat interface, making it easy for developers to integrate chat into their products.
“You can use your brand, your workflows — anything that makes your product stand out,” Altman said.
Evals for Agents is a toolkit designed to evaluate the performance of AI agents. Its features include step-by-step execution checks, specialized datasets for evaluating parts of the agent, automatic prompt improvement, and the ability to run third-party model evaluations directly through the OpenAI platform.
The final element of AgentKit is access to the OpenAI Connector Registry , which allows developers to securely connect agents to internal and third-party systems through a dedicated “admin panel,” with full control and security.
To prove how easy AgentKit is to use, OpenAI engineer Christina Huang created an entire workflow and two AI agents on stage in less than eight minutes.
“These are all things we wish we had when we were trying to build our first agents ourselves,” Altman said, noting that OpenAI has already brought on several partners who have successfully scaled agents using AgentKit.
Recall that during Dev Day, OpenAI announced the launch of a new feature for developers - creating applications directly in ChatGPT.
