«Today we are introducing Product Search, a new ChatGPT feature that does the searching for you to help you find the products you need», OpenAI said.
A user can describe to the AI what they are looking for with queries like: «Find the quietest cordless vacuum cleaner for a small apartment,» «Help me choose between these three bikes,» or «I require a gift for my four-year-old niece who loves art,» and the new tool will create a guide to help them make a decision. «Shopping Research» asks clarifying questions, conducts in-depth research on the Internet, analyzes sources, and relies on ChatGPT’s knowledge of the user based on past conversations.
«Shopping research is designed for deeper decision-making. It turns product search into a dialogue: it asks intelligent questions to understand what’s important to you, gets accurate and relevant data from high-quality sources, and offers you options to refine your results. It’s especially effective in categories where details matter, such as electronics, cosmetics, home and garden, kitchen and appliances, and sports and outdoor activities,» the developers say.
Shopping Research is rolling out to mobile and web users of ChatGPT’s Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. OpenAI says it’s offering «nearly unlimited usage across all plans» during the holiday sale.
