This system uses artificial intelligence algorithms and is supposed to «significantly improve the security situation» by speeding up the response of emergency services to emergencies.
«The center’s operation is primarily aimed at increasing the level of personal security of Chernihiv residents. The video surveillance system covers key public spaces, transport hubs, and infrastructure facilities, which helps reduce the number of offenses and increase the overall level of public order,» said Ivan Ishchenko, head of the regional police.
In total, 400 video surveillance cameras have been installed in the city, including cameras with facial and vehicle recognition. The number of video cameras in the region has now increased to 1,500. Server equipment has also been installed and a monitoring center has been built.
«A modern video surveillance system uses artificial intelligence algorithms and allows us not only to record offenses, but also to work proactively — to analyze the situation, quickly respond to threats, and prevent crimes,» Ishchenko noted.
The police noted that the system is built on Ukrainian-made software, which «ensures technological independence, flexibility in development, and the possibility of operational scaling.» Chernihiv became the first city in Ukraine to implement such a solution.
Recall that last year, Ukrainian miltech startup Rcam, which produces «smart» battlefield surveillance cameras, raised funding from Brave1. The funds raised went to improve object recognition based on artificial intelligence to automate work on protecting objects, borders, and boundaries.
