The number of IT professionals in the military who receive payments from their employers has decreased by almost 20%. How IT specialists manage to combine work and service
The number of IT workers who continue to receive payments from their IT employers has decreased over the year. Almost a third of them are paid a fixed amount, which is less than their salary.

This is stated in the results of a DOU survey, in which 144 IT workers currently serving in the military participated.
What worries IT workers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine the most?
The uncertainty of the term, falling income, bureaucracy, and loss of professional skills are what worries IT workers the most in the service.
Compared to last year, IT professionals have become more concerned about:
financial problems — 59% versus 35% a year ago;
loss of professional skills — 51% versus 39%;
Domestic difficulties — 40% versus 21%
At the same time, concerns about restrictions on personal freedom have decreased — 34% compared to 44% a year ago.

How do IT workers manage to combine work and service?
20% of IT professionals in the military combine service with work in an IT company. Among them, only technical specialists are involved - developers, QA, DevOps, Data Engineers.
57% do not have the opportunity to do this, but try to be in the context of IT (read, watch content at leisure).

Preserving jobs and benefits
Compared to 2024, the number of IT workers who continue to receive payments from their employers has decreased: 42% versus 60% last year.
But for 63% of IT workers currently employed, the IT company still maintains their jobs.

How are the activities of IT specialists in the Defense Forces related to IT specialization?
Most IT professionals in the Armed Forces of Ukraine work with technology in one way or another.
Only 25% of them have no connection to the service (last year there were more of them — 53%).
32% deal with IT in the military, 43% with other technologies (communications, drones, equipment repair, etc.).

In the summer, 37% of respondents were IT officers who had been serving since 2022. A year ago, there were 88%. The DOU suggests that most of them were likely given the opportunity to return to civilian life.
