As TechCrunch notes, users can now enter custom queries like «modeling kits and accessories for amateur engineers» or «coffee brewing tools and gadgets for coffee lovers».
Interests uses large language models (LLMs) to transform natural language into queries that traditional search engines understand, resulting in more relevant product suggestions.
Additionally, the tool constantly runs in the background, notifying users of new products that match their interests, as well as providing updates on relevant products, stock replenishments, and promotions.
Interests is currently available to a select group of users in the US through the Amazon Shopping app on iOS and Android devices, as well as on the mobile version of the website. The company plans to expand access to more US customers in the coming months.
The Interests feature is one of many AI-powered technologies already available at Amazon, including the Rufus shopping assistant, shopping guides, review summaries, AI-generated product insights, and more.
In February, the company introduced Alexa+, an improved version of its voice assistant that is now powered by generative artificial intelligence. Users can now share documents with Alexa+, allowing it to recall important details and answer questions about those documents.
