This was stated by AMD CEO Lisa Su during a speech in Taipei, Reuters reports .
According to her, the company has already increased its supply volumes during 2026, but intends to significantly increase them next year. The key purpose of the AMD head's visit to Taiwan was to ensure the supply chain and reserve the production capacity of local partners for the production of processors and graphics cards. As part of the trip, Su has already met with Foxconn representatives and scheduled talks with TSMC management.
"Over the next few years, demand will be very, very high. We see very high demand, so we need additional capacity to produce modern wafers," the head of AMD emphasized, adding that the company is currently planning a strategy for three to five years ahead.
After Taiwan, Su will head to South Korea to hold talks with memory giants Samsung and SK Hynix to ensure sufficient supply of high-speed memory for AI accelerators.
In addition to production issues, the AMD CEO touched on the topic of artificial intelligence security. She emphasized the importance of coordination between leading technology companies in the face of the development of AI and the possible emergence of superintelligence. Su called the AI summit with the participation of US President Donald Trump and the heads of tech giants an important step, at which the parties agreed to involve independent auditors to verify the operation of AI systems.
