According to Army Recognition, thanks to autonomous navigation systems that include radar, acoustic sensors, and video/thermal imaging cameras, AngryCat can detect and intercept targets without the direct participation of an operator. In addition, the drone can act as a «kamikaze» to destroy ground targets, which expands its functionality.
The device weighs 12 kg, has a payload of up to 1 kg, develops a cruising speed of 250 km/h and can operate at an altitude of up to 4,500 meters. The flight time is up to 15 minutes, which provides a combat radius of about 30 km. AngryCat is launched using a pneumatic catapult, and preparation for launch takes approximately 25 minutes, which makes the system suitable for rapid response to the emergence of air threats. The drone is able to operate around the clock and fully automatically, minimizing the need for human control.
Venator Technologies, which created AngryCat, has been operating in the drone technology market since 2022, is based in Kyiv and is part of Octava Capital, the ultimate beneficiary of which is Oleksandr Kardakov. In addition to AngryCat, the company’s line includes other products, such as the FlyCat loitering munition.
The emergence of interceptor drones like the AngryCat was a response to Russia’s massive use of cheap kamikaze drones against Ukraine. In conditions where conventional air defense is ineffective or too expensive to combat cheap UAVs, the AngryCat offers a high-speed and cost-effective way to neutralize such threats. That is why such drones have become a key part of the modern concept of air defense and have already proven their effectiveness within the framework of the Ukrainian «Clean Sky» initiative, which involves the mass production and use of small drones to protect infrastructure.
