With the new update, voice mode picks up the last model that users used in text chat and defaults to its fastest version, writes TechCrunch.
Anthropic said the new voice mode will help users with longer conversations — in particular, it will provide feedback on their communication style, help rehearse a presentation for a client, or brainstorm about product market research.
Additionally, Claude’s voice mode can connect to other apps like Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva, and Notion. This means users can ask it to change a meeting time, draft an email, or create a document in Notion.
In particular, this is an important difference from OpenAI's voice mode, which, although it has updated its conversational style, is still unable to use other tools to complete tasks.
Earlier this year, Anthropic added beta support for multiple languages to its Claude voice mode. The company said that users can now communicate in multiple languages, but they have to manually select the desired language. Anthropic currently supports English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian), and Spanish (Latin American and Spanish).
The new voice mode is available in beta for all users on all platforms. However, free plan users will be limited to using the Haiku model with only one connected app.
