Anthropic, a leading AI developer, has published a report on internal changes to its staffing structure and workflows over the past year. According to the report, the active implementation of its own AI tools has significantly changed the requirements for new employees and the daily routine within the company.

One of the most noticeable trends has been a sharp decline in entry-level hiring, TechCrunch reports . The share of juniors in companies’ tech departments has fallen from 21% to 14% since the beginning of 2025. The share of new hires in entry-level tech roles has fallen even more, from 27% to 9%.
Additionally, the overall proportion of technical staff at Anthropic has decreased from 61% to 56%. The company attributes this to the natural expansion of business structures as it scales, as well as the fact that AI-powered coding tools now allow non-technical employees to build software on their own.
Employees at the company describe constant internal pressure to “move as fast as possible and use Claude for everything.” According to a survey conducted in April 2026, 27% of employees noted an increase in productivity thanks to Claude, and 20% said their work had shifted from directly completing tasks to “managing Claude agents.”
One developer compared the process to childcare: "When you're childcare, each child comes to you with requests that require the same level of attention. Claude's rhizomaniacs do the same thing."
The report notes that human attention and judgment are becoming a “bottleneck” for productivity as AI generates a huge stream of text and code that humans have to proofread, review, and organize.
Although the company is seeing an increase in overall productivity (more code per developer, more deals closed, and more contracts processed), calendar data shows an increase in time spent in meetings.
Meeting time per employee has increased by 20% year-over-year (and by 16% for technical professionals). Anthropic attributes this to the growing importance of “human trust and accountability,” noting that face-to-face coordination between people remains indispensable in a world where much of the routine is being done by AI.
