French deftech company Alta Ares will direct a fifth of the €50 million investment raised in June to business development in Ukraine — that is, about €10 million.
Co-founder and CEO of the company, Adrien Kanter, said this in an interview with Defender Media.
The investment will be used to expand the Ukrainian engineering team and scale up production of interceptor drones. Alta Ares has a development office and one of the production facilities in Ukraine where drones are produced. The Ukrainian unit currently employs about 20 engineers — according to Kanter, they plan to triple their number by the end of 2026.
In addition to Ukraine, Alta Ares has production facilities in France and a Middle Eastern country. According to the CEO, the company will soon open another plant in an EU country.
Alta Ares develops software and hardware solutions to counter drones — including guidance systems and its own interceptor drones. Alta Ares' guidance software solutions are already used by about 10 Ukrainian interceptor drone manufacturers, and by the end of the year, Kanter expects to double the number of local customers.
Among Alta Ares’ partner companies in Ukraine, Kanter names Fire Point: «Our Ukrainian teams are already working together on several projects, but they are confidential,» the entrepreneur says. He also plans to create several joint ventures with Ukrainian drone manufacturers by the end of the year.
