«The real shortage in the market encourages distributors, and we also do it, to do air delivery, since our parcel will sail from China by sea for two months. This is a very long period — we need it here and now, customers are already standing in line at the store! Therefore, we are now negotiating air delivery, and, accordingly, this also affects the price, because air delivery adds 30-35% to the cost of the charging station,» Silin explained the situation on the air of the Kyiv24 TV channel.
Another factor in the price increase, Serhiy Silin called the peg to the euro exchange rate and the change in the euro exchange rate itself.
«Prices have really increased compared to October last year,» he stated.
Answering the host’s question, he also described the pricing process in large chains.
«Usually, you need to count on about 20% „plus“ — this is the margin that allows you to cooperate with such large chains as Comfy, Rozetka, „Citrus“, „Foxtrot“. But depending on the brand and chain, it can vary by another plus or minus 5%,» Silin explained.
At the same time, if we are talking about sky-high prices that significantly exceed market prices in Ukraine and Europe, then such goods, according to Silin, are not sold by official distributors, but simply by people who «want to make money.»
«These are not official distributors, these are not dealers, these are just, most likely, carriers who take 3-5-10 stations and then try to sell them through marketplaces and various platforms, to make money on the hype,» he says.
Serhiy Silin also believes that Ukraine has 4-5 of its own serious manufacturers of charging stations, but the general shortage and the situation on the market also affect them, because they also use Chinese spare parts.
In addition, he explained that most of the EcoFlow charging stations, which were intended for European markets, are now in Ukraine.
«Everything that was on the European shelves for countries such as France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain, it all came to Ukraine, and the allocation was for 80% of all charging stations to Ukraine,» he stated.
