American companies tested their latest Hitchhiker interceptor drone in Ukraine, designed to destroy "shaheeds"

Two American technology companies, IronNet and Asterion Systems, have created an anti-UAV system that is called a potential «game changer» in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
As Newsweek reports, the system has already been successfully tested on the front line in Ukraine. It was created by IronNet, an AI-based collective defense cybersecurity company, and Asterion Systems, a leader in anti-UAV technologies.
The defense network is formed by combining IronNet’s Iron Dome cybersecurity system, which provides real-time cyber threat detection, with Asterion’s Hitchhiker anti-drone technology. The system is designed to neutralize enemy drones.
Cyberattacks aimed at disabling defense systems are reported to often precede large-scale drone attacks, putting critical infrastructure at risk.
The drones themselves will be countered by the Hitchhiker, a high-speed, electric-powered interceptor drone designed to destroy enemy drones like Iran’s Shahid more cost-effectively than traditional defense systems like the expensive Patriot missiles.
The partnership between IronNet and Asterion ensures that defense systems are protected from cyber threats even before enemy drones are launched. IronNet’s advanced cybersecurity tools protect systems from potential breaches, while Asterion’s anti-drone technology can be deployed to track, target and destroy approaching enemy drones, providing a multi-layered and proactive defense against both cyber and aerial threats.
Admiral Mike Hewitt, a cybersecurity investor and director of US-based IronNet, called the collaboration «a game changer», saying the two companies would change the way countries defend against joint cyber and drone attacks.
Earlier, Ukrainian defenders started using FPV drones to intercept Russian reconnaissance and attack UAVs. In particular, the operator of an FPV drone from the SIGNUM unit of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade «Kholodny Yar» managed to shoot down a Russian kamikaze drone «Lancet» in the air. The corresponding video was published by the press service of the unit.
The army of the Russian Federation updated the record of drones used in one attack in Ukraine to 188 UAVs. The invaders are increasing the production of Shahed drones, and may triple last year’s figures
