A lonely 91-year-old grandmother became so obsessed with video games that she stopped answering her calls until the police came to her house.
A 91-year-old woman who failed to answer her daily call to check on her well-being was visited by police. It turned out that the grandmother was fine — she was just trying to break a record in a video game.
A 91-year-old woman who failed to answer her daily call to check on her well-being was visited by police. It turned out that the grandmother was fine — she was just trying to break a record in a video game.
The grandmother was part of the «Are You Okay?» program, in which participants receive a daily phone call to make sure they’re okay. If they don’t answer the call, police will go to their home to conduct a «personal check,» PC Gamer reports .
After several missed calls, police went to the woman’s house and entered through the garage. It turned out that the housewife was alive and well and simply playing video games in her bedroom and trying to beat her record.
«It all ended well. Everyone had a good laugh about it,» said Westlake (USA) Police Capt. Jerry Vogel.
Police did not specify which game the grandmother was so fascinated by, but the question has been of great interest to Reddit users. Some suggested it could have been ARC Raiders or SimCity 2000.
Recall that in December last year, Ukrainian-Maltese studio 4A Games, known for the Metro series of games, donated a gaming laptop to 78-year-old video game enthusiast Lyudmila Kulakova. She was forced to leave her PC behind when she was evacuated from her home in the city of Bilozerske, Donetsk region.
