«My main AI tool for today is ChatGPT. But the company’s mission is to make Eney a daily working tool, and first of all for ourselves… We are following the local first path — to create and eventually use our own technologies, instead of relying on OpenAI or Gemini,» Kubitsky noted in an interview with DOU.
As he says, there are currently 20 people working solely on his MacPaw AI team.
«However, AI should also be a part of cross-functional teams. Therefore, one of the first transformations after my move to MacPaw was the reorganization of the structure: in product teams, along with designers, SEO specialists, developers, DevOps, etc., there are AI engineers. Or even entire teams with their own AI Product Lead — like at Eney,» explained Kubitsky.
The Director of AI at MacPaw added that the AI Product team, the entire AI Research Unit, and Technological R&D are currently working on Eney.
«The vision we put into this product requires technologies that have not yet been created. And that’s the difficulty. We could have gone the other way: waited for someone else to create the technologies. Instead, we decided to break the rock ourselves — sometimes successfully, sometimes not, but we are moving forward. We can’t wait — it will be too late,» he stated.
Kubitsky also noted that it is currently very difficult to attract specialized AI specialists to the team.
«We have not been able to fill some positions for more than half a year. Our salary ranges are very adequate, but they are not enough — the competition with the global market for specialists in the field of artificial intelligence is very high,» the specialist believes.
Recall that MacPaw, which created such popular Mac applications as CleanMyMac and Setapp, introduced Eney at CES 2025. The company claims that he is more than just another AI assistant, and rather a friendly interlocutor or colleague.
At the end of August, MacPaw CEO Oleksandr Kosovan spoke about the active development of the internal team working on AI and about open vacancies in this area.
