The Ministry of Defense is initiating the creation of an «innovation hub» to combine efforts in implementing the latest technologies for demining the deoccupied territories of Ukraine. What will it do?
This was stated by Colonel Oleg Shuvarsky, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety.
«One of the tasks of such a hub will be to evaluate modern technologies, compare global innovations, classify potential solutions in accordance with international and national mine action standards, and test the latest developments», — Shuvarsky said.
According to him, this allows the formation of a «bank of technologies in the field of mine action» and the prioritization of their implementation and scaling in Ukraine.
It was previously reported that the Ministry of Defense is working on the possibility of creating a modern testing ground for testing new technologies used in demining processes, in particular involving artificial intelligence.
«The testing ground, which is at the disposal of the Ministry of Defense, can become a unique platform for conducting joint research, testing, and training,» emphasized Colonel Olga Drobot, representative of the Secretariat of the National Mine Action Authority.
Previously, the Armed Forces of Ukraine presented the state project «Iron Polygon», which provides private developers with simplified and free access to specially equipped military testing grounds for testing samples of weapons, equipment, and unmanned systems.
We will remind that last year, the Ukrainian robotics company Temerland showed an unusual platform «Solomandra» for demining anti-personnel mines. The drone is controlled remotely — via a remote control at a distance of up to 1-1.5 km. But if you install a repeater, the control distance can be increased to 3-3.5 km. At the IT Arena last fall, a representative of Temerland told dev.ua that there are already separate orders for «Solomandra».
